Google Ads for Florida Personal Injury Lawyers: Seasonality, Costs, and Targeting

Google Ads for Florida personal injury lawyers: why clicks cost $100+, post-storm and tourist-season timing, and how a smaller Tampa Bay firm can compete.

On this page

Google Ads for Florida personal injury lawyers is the most expensive local search market in the state, and probably in the country outside of a few big-city metros. Clicks on "car accident lawyer Tampa" routinely cost $80 to $300, and the firms bidding at the top have TV budgets, billboards along I-275 and I-4, and in-house marketing teams. A five-attorney firm in St. Pete cannot outbid them. It can out-target them, and that is what this guide is about.

Seasonality in Florida PI search

Auto accident searches rise in the winter and spring when roads are fullest. Tampa Bay's snowbird season from November through April adds hundreds of thousands of seasonal drivers to US-19, the Howard Frankland, Gandy and I-275, and the crash numbers follow. Spring break brings tourists to the Pinellas beaches and Clearwater, and the accident and slip-and-fall searches come with them. Summer is a bit quieter, though the afternoon storms produce their own crashes on I-4 and the Veterans.

Hurricane season creates a different wave: after a major storm, searches for insurance dispute lawyers, property claim attorneys, and contractor fraud spike for months. Firms that do property claims should have a paused campaign ready to turn on.

What it costs and why

Tampa Bay CPCs: $60 to $250 for auto accident terms, $100 to $400 for truck accident and wrongful death, $40 to $120 for slip and fall, $30 to $100 for property claim and insurance dispute. Miami and Fort Lauderdale run higher; Orlando is comparable; Jacksonville and Tallahassee are a little lower. Cost per signed case from Google Search frequently lands between $1,500 and $6,000.

That number is only sane because a mid-range auto case settles at a fee that covers it several times over. It is not sane if your intake process loses half the callers.

Where a smaller firm can win

  1. Long-tail case types: "motorcycle accident lawyer," "rideshare accident attorney," "boat accident lawyer" (this is Tampa Bay; boat cases are real), "pedestrian accident St. Petersburg," "e-bike accident," "nursing home neglect Clearwater." These are cheaper and the big firms run generic copy against them.
  2. Hyper-local geography: A firm in downtown St. Pete can bid up Pinellas ZIPs and skip Hillsborough entirely, cutting the CPC and improving relevance. "St. Petersburg car accident lawyer" costs less than "Tampa car accident lawyer" and converts better for a Pinellas firm.
  3. Spanish-language search: "abogado de accidentes Tampa" is far cheaper than the English equivalent and has real volume in Town 'n' Country, West Tampa, Brandon and Plant City. If you have Spanish-speaking attorneys or staff, this is the best ROI in the account.
  4. Property and insurance claims: Less crowded than auto, a Florida-specific specialty, and enormous after storms.

Targeting details

Use ZIP or county targeting, never a radius, and target by "presence" so you do not pay for someone in Georgia researching. Bid up the corridors with the most crashes: US-19 through Pinellas, I-4 through Brandon and Plant City, Dale Mabry, Bruce B. Downs in New Tampa and Wesley Chapel, and the bridges. Consider a bid adjustment for mobile; accident searches are heavily mobile and often happen within days of the crash.

Schedule ads 24/7 but bid down overnight unless you have live intake. A missed call at 2am from someone who was just in a crash on the Selmon is a missed case.

Negatives and compliance

Negatives: "free legal advice," "pro bono," "how to sue," "lawyer salary," "law school," "jobs," "legal aid," "paralegal," competitor firm names you do not want to pay to defend, and "insurance company" alone (pulls policyholders looking for their carrier). Florida Bar advertising rules apply to your ad copy and landing page; do not promise results, and get the page reviewed before it goes live.

Landing page and intake

The page needs a phone number and a short form above the fold, attorney names and photos, a plain statement that there is no fee unless you win, and a short explanation of Florida's PIP and no-fault rules for auto cases. A Spanish page is essential if you are bidding on Spanish terms. Check speed with a free SEO & AI score; law firm sites are notoriously slow, and a $150 click bouncing off a five-second load is painful.

Then fix intake. Record every call. If a receptionist is asking an injured caller to hold or leave a message, the ad account is not the problem.

Budget and management

A smaller Tampa Bay PI firm needs $5,000 to $20,000 a month in media to get consistent signed cases from Search. Below that, the CPCs mean you are buying a handful of clicks and a lot of noise. Management should be flat, $2,000 to $4,000 for that range, or 10 to 15 percent, from someone who has run legal and knows the Bar rules. You must own the account and the call data. How Arbor runs your ads lays out the flat fee and what is included.

Google Search for PI in Florida is a rich-firm game at the top and a smart-firm game everywhere else. Pick the case types, ZIPs and language the big firms are ignoring, answer the phone, and the math can work even against a TV budget.
