Google Ads for Florida garage door companies is one of the most profitable and most competitive local ad categories in the state. Emergency repair searches happen at 6:45am when someone can't get to work, and replacement searches spike every time a storm gets a name. If you're running a garage door business in Tampa Bay, Orlando, or Southwest Florida, here's how the money actually works.
Two businesses, two campaigns
Repair and replacement are different customers with different urgency. Split them from day one.
- Repair/emergency: broken spring, door off track, opener dead. These searchers convert on the phone within minutes. Run call-only or call-focused ads, schedule heavily for 6am to 9pm, and make sure someone actually answers. A missed call at $40 a click hurts.
- Replacement/upgrade: new door, hurricane-rated door, insulated door, impact-rated. These people compare. Send them to a page with real pricing ranges and photos.
Florida seasonality is about storms, not temperature
Garage doors fail year-round, but replacement demand in Florida follows the hurricane calendar. From June through November, "hurricane rated garage door" and "wind code garage door" searches climb, especially in the week after a storm enters the Gulf. After a landfall anywhere in the state, insurance-driven replacement work runs for months. Keep a hurricane-door campaign paused but ready, and turn it on the day the cone appears.
The quieter window is roughly January through April, which is a fine time to push spring and opener maintenance to the snowbird corridors: Clearwater, Largo, Sun City Center, and down through Sarasota. Retirees fix things before they head north.
What clicks cost
Garage door repair is expensive in every Florida metro because national lead-gen companies and franchise brands bid on it.
- Tampa Bay: emergency repair terms often $25 to $60 per click. Replacement terms are cheaper, more like $10 to $25.
- Orlando: comparable, with heavier competition east of I-4.
- Miami-Dade/Broward: the most expensive in the state, and a large share of Spanish-language searches.
- Fort Myers/Naples: lower volume, expensive in season.
Realistic cost per booked repair call: $60 to $150. A spring replacement at a few hundred dollars covers that; a full door replacement more than covers it. The key metric isn't click cost, it's answered-call rate.
Targeting: your truck is the constraint
A tech based in Brandon should not be dispatched to Tarpon Springs for a $200 spring job. Build location groups by drive time, not by mileage. For a Tampa Bay company with one or two trucks:
- Hillsborough core: Brandon, Riverview, Valrico, Seffner, Temple Terrace, Carrollwood, South Tampa. Full bids.
- Pasco growth belt: Wesley Chapel, Land O' Lakes, Lutz. Full bids for replacement, reduced bids for emergency unless you have a tech up there. New construction means thousands of builder-grade openers reaching failure age.
- Pinellas: only if you'll cross the Howard Frankland or Gandy at 7am. If not, exclude it and stop paying for it.
Layer in ZIP-level exclusions for downtown and Channelside condo ZIPs. Nobody in a 20th-floor unit needs a garage door.
Negatives that save real money
Add "Home Depot," "Lowe's," "Amazon," "remote battery," "how to," "DIY," "jobs," "manual," and every opener brand name paired with "manual" or "programming." A surprising amount of Florida garage door spend goes to people trying to reprogram a Chamberlain remote themselves.
Local Services Ads
Garage door is an LSA category, and in Tampa and Orlando those Google Guaranteed listings sit above everything. You pay per lead instead of per click, and disputes for bad leads actually get honored more often than people expect. Run LSAs first, standard search second. See Local Services Ads in Tampa: The Google Guaranteed Playbook for the setup steps.
Fair management fees
Garage door accounts need daily attention during storm season and weekly the rest of the year. For $2,000 to $6,000 a month in spend, a flat fee of $600 to $1,500 is fair. Be wary of anyone charging 20 percent of spend with no call tracking; if they can't tell you how many calls were answered, they can't manage the account. How Arbor runs your ads includes call tracking and the landing pages, which is where most garage door campaigns leak.
Get the split right, answer the phone, and keep the hurricane campaign loaded. That's most of the game for Florida garage door companies on Google. For more growth guides, we keep adding trade-specific playbooks.
